Course Withdrawal Form

Withdrawals from courses may affect housing, graduation, athletics, financial aid, and membership in organizations or other opportunities.

Correct Form?

This form is to be used for withdrawing from individual courses. This form is NOT to be used to withdraw from ALL courses. If you wish to withdraw from all courses, please use the Semester Withdrawal Form, which can be found at the following link:

Academic Calendar

All dates referenced in this policy apply to the semester and part of term applicable to each registered course. The deadlines for each semester and part of term can be found in the Academic Calendar.

Policy

Course Withdrawal is a request by a student to cancel their enrollment in a particular course after the schedule adjustment (Add/Drop) registration period for the term and prior to the end of the term.


All dates referenced in this policy apply to the semester and part of term applicable to each registered course. The deadlines for each semester and part of term can be found in the Academic Calendar (linked below).


1. Students who make changes to their schedules during the schedule adjustments (Add/Drop) registration period will have the course dropped (removed) from their schedule and their account balance updated (if applicable).


2. After the schedule adjustment (Add/Drop) registration period, and until the last day to withdrawal without academic penalty, students will receive a grade of W for any course withdrawal. Students are responsible for course charges for withdrawals after the Add/Drop period.


3. After the last day to withdrawal without academic penalty, students will receive a WF for each course withdrawal. There are financial aid and grade point average (GPA) conditions associated with the WF.

Spring 2025 Dates for WF grades

A WF will negatively impact your GPA, counting the same as an F.


Any withdrawal request submitted after the following dates will be recorded as a WF.


Full-Term (01/13/25–05/08/25) – WF after April 4, 2025

A-Term (01/13/25–03/07/25) – WF after February 19, 2025

B-Term (03/17/25–05/08/25) – WF after April 17, 2025


eCore/eMajor Full-Term (01/13/25–05/01/25) – WF after March 10, 2025

eCore/eMajor Short Session I (01/13/25–03/08/25) – WF after February 10, 2025

eCore/eMajor Short Session II (03/10/25–05/03/25) – WF after April 7, 2025

Important Information

A ‘Course Withdrawal’ is a request by a student to cancel his or her enrollment in a particular CRN after the Add/Drop Period for the Term.


The student is automatically assigned a grade of W to indicate a course withdrawal for all requests prior to the last date to withdrawal without academic penalty. The W will not be calculated in the GPA. All requests submitted after the dates listed at the top of the form (based on course term) will be recorded as a WF. The WF will be calculated in the GPA the same as an F.


A withdrawal for the course may or may not include a refund, depending on when the withdrawal is requested.
