Please make sure that you have read your Invitation to Show Cause email carefully, as it contains important information and links.

This Show Cause submission is your opportunity to explain your situation to the Program Assessment Board, how your circumstances have effected your studies and what steps you will take for improvement if you are allowed to continue in your current program.

Before you start, visit the Show Cause Submission page for information and support on how to prepare your submission.

Section D - Explain why your academic performance has been unsatifactory

Final stage show cause

For the teaching periods in which you have been identified, especially the most recent period, you need to explain:

What went wrong and why (including both academic and personal circumstances that have impaired your performance)

How much time each week you have spent in class and studying, and have how much time you have spent on other commitments such as employment

What you have done to resolve these issues, Including any help you have sought

What you have done to carry out your Academic Performance Improvement Plan

We strongly encourage you to also attach a personal statement with full explanations to support your submission. Please note that all personal information will be treated as Confidential.

Please outline any personal reasons that you may have experienced and how they have impacted your study. (For example health, financial, family, living arrangements, work commitments)

Please ensure you attach evidence to support your submission.

For the next teaching period, you need to explain:

Whether the issues that impaired your academic performance are still present, or your situation has improved

If the issues are still present, how you will minimise their impact on your performance

Your short-term and long-term plans to improve your study skills and academic performance

(Please include details of any assistance you have sought e.g. SLC, SLAMS, GP etc.)

To support your show cause submission you should provide independent supporting documentation to support any of the circumstanced that you have mentioned. (For example, a letter or report from a health practitioner or counsellaor, a detath certificate of funeral notice, police report, evidnece of the use of support services recommended in your Academic Performance Improvement Plan (APIP)

If you provide evidence that is in a language other than English, you must include an English translation by a NAATI-accredited translator.

What happens next?

Once your submission is received, it will be reviewed, and may be referred to the Program Assessment Board for further assessment.

You will receive the outcome of your submission to your student email account.

Please ensure you regularly check your student email account during this period so you do not miss any important information or deadlines.
