February 20 -March 31, 2017
Cost of Class: $50.00 - payment info below :
For the Christian, prayer is not an option. Being a Christian involves not only following Jesus but also knowing Him and maintaining a constant dialogue with Him. Prayer is intrinsic to Christianity. Believing in Jesus as our Lord and Savior leads us to have a permanent relationship with Him. In this course we will study the meaning of prayer and we will also see some fundamental concepts that will help us cultivate an ongoing relationship with each Person of the Holy Trinity.
Normally, when we talk about spirituality we think of prayer. When we say that someone is spiritual, we usually mean that person has frequent contact with God. But spirituality goes beyond praying; spirituality involves every moment of our existence. Christian spirituality is based on how we relate to God as well as how we reflect Christ. Thus, in this course, we will deepen the meaning of Christian spirituality, presenting its characteristics, expressions and phases. In time, we will see some concrete suggestions in order to continue growing personally in the spiritual life. We will also talk about the fruit of a true Christian spirituality, that is, to live like Jesus, in other words, to be holy people. At the end of the course, we will focus specifically on features and expressions of Latino spirituality in the United States.
The only required texts are the Catecismo Católico de los Estados Unidos para los Adultos del USCCB, 2008. which can be found at
