Application to Become an Outward Bound Canada Program Staff

Thank you for your interest in becoming a field instructor for Outward Bound Canada! We look forward to reading your resume. We thank all applicants in advance, however only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

If you are interested in applying for a support or administrative position, openings are posted on our website when they are available with information on how to apply.

If you do not possess a work visa for Canada, we will not be able to hire you at this time. Thanks!

Please attach your Cover Letter, Resume, and Outdoor Trip Log.

We recommend using a PDF file format to ensure we can read your attachments.

The trip log should list your past outdoor experience, including each trip's mode of travel, duration, type and size of group, and your role within the group (personal trip, student, assistant guide, lead guide, etc.).

If you are applying to a specific posted field instructor position please enter the title of the position here. Most applicants will leave this field blank, and simply select a region below.

At this time, each region conducts its own hiring and training, so please select one region to which you'd like to apply. Please do not submit the form 6 separate times to cover all regions. Pick one. If the region to which you apply contacts you for an interview, you can tell the program directors at that time if you are interested in other regions as well. Thanks!

For example, backpacking, whitewater, climbing, sea kayaking, mountaineering, youth-at-risk, veterans, women of courage...

Wilderness Advanced First Aid is minimum for Urban. Wilderness First Responder (or equivalent) is minimum for Wilderness.

Please be specifc: ie OBC website, Facebook group - which one? GoodWork, NOLS, OB staff member, other outdoor educator, friend, specific school, etc.
