2017 SPC Time & Talents Survey

"Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work." (2 Corinthians 9:7-8)

Stewardship is about more than just money. Stewardship is also about finding ways to use your unique, God-given talents to help others experience the love of Christ. Please tell us how your distinctive abilities and personal interests can help Shallowford spread the Good News to our congregation, our community and our world.

Please provide your personal contact information as requested below. Then continue with the survey, choosing activities that interest you and will make your heart joyful. Sunday school occurs year-round on Sundays from 9:30 am - 10:30 pm.

Here's another great way to get to know fellow congregants! Greet worship attendees as they enter the worship service, hand out bulletins, collect the offering, etc.

You know those attendance sheets you fill out each Sunday? The church office uses them to update their records; but someone has to collect them first. This takes about 10 to 15 minutes after each worship service - easy!

Preparation and set-up occurs in team of 3-4 on Saturday mornings before a communion Sunday. Clean-up occurs immediately after the close of each communion service.

Act out your faith! As part of Worship's Drama Guild sub-committee, lead and/or join others in enhancing the worship experience through occasional drama performances.

As part of Worship's Art Guild sub-committee, lead and/or join others in arranging rotating art displays at Shallowford.

The SPC staff is comprised of 17 staff members, some full-time and some part-time.

Sit at the receptionist desk, answer phone calls, direct walk-ins, and perform light office work. Weekdays - choose one day a week or one day a month.

Help decorate the church for various liturgical seasons, including Easter and Advent. A festive, seasonal activity!

Help set-up and light sidewalk luminaries for Easter Sunrise and Christmas Eve worship services.

VBS runs 1 full week in June or July. Help all week or just one day.

Acolytes serve at the 11:00 worship during certain liturgical seasons and on special Sundays. Adults are needed to help coordinate this program and help ready/supervise acolytes when they are on duty.

Help set up, clean up, or serve at receptions held after a funeral or memorial service at SPC.

Join the team of techies! Someone to help monitor sound and microphones is needed at every service held in the sanctuary. Once the service is over, additional assistance is needed to help process the audio recordings.

Help spread the word about SPC by sharing posts from SPC's Facebook page, etc. Or - post your own!

Help write thank you notes to those who have made memorial donations to the church or to those who have pledged financial support to SPC.

The SPC Food Pantry is open to the pubic on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 1 pm to 3 pm. Volunteer 1 hour of your time every week or twice-monthly to bag groceries. (Timing for this activity is flexible but must be done outside of public pantry hours.) Or, volunteer 2 hours of your time each month to register clients and distribute food to them.

INSPIRE is run by Shalom International Ministries on school days from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm. It is an after-school initiative for about 20 refuge middle school aged children. Assistance is needed with homework tutoring, leading a class in sports or crafts, and regular donations of snack.

This program runs on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of every month from noon to 5 pm. Donations of lunch items as well as classroom assistance with a lesson, craft or sport are needed.

Serve as a receptionist, volunteer in the NETWorks Food Pantry, and/or pray with neighbors. Assistance is needed from 10 am - 1 pm Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. NETWorks is located in Tucker.

NETWorks helps community children get ready for school in their reduced-price school supply store. The store, located in Tucker, is open in June and July.
