Fall 2025 RICC Student Application -

Good-to-Know:

You are applying to the RUTGERS INTERNSHIP AND CO-OP COURSE. (Please right click so the link opens in a new tab)

  • The course code for this class is either 01:090:201 | 01:090:202 | 01:090:203
  • This course is general elective credit only and will not fulfill any core or major requirements that you may need to fulfill.
  • If you would like to take a course that fulfills your major or core requirements, please reach out to your academic advisor to determine what those options are.
  • RICC is an asynchronous course via Canvas that is taken at the same time as your internship.
  • In order to earn internship credit, you must enroll via webreg. If you do not enroll in an internship course, you will not be able to earn internship credit.
  • Students must be a New Brunswick undergraduate student, have at least a 2.5 GPA and at least 30 credits at the start of the semester when they are taking RICC.
  • Transfer students must not be in their first semester at Rutgers, as they need an established Rutgers GPA.

I know that the application I am filling out right now is for either 01:090:201, 01:090:202 or 01:090:203. None of these courses will fulfill any core or major requirements that may be required by my major, and will only provide elective credit towards graduation. If I want to earn major or core credit, I will reach out to my academic advisor to determine which course will meet this requirement. Checking the box means that I have read and understood this statement.

Section One

This section of the application asks questions about you and your eligibility. The next section of the application will ask about your internship.

Note: RICC is NOT a placement program. Please wait to apply for this course until you have secured an internship.

Please do not list a gmail/yahoo or other personal email address.

By typing your initials below, you confirm that you are aware that this application to this course (RICC) only offers GENERAL ELECTIVE CREDIT.

If your major or school or department requires an internship/experiential learning, this course will not count towards that requirement.

If applicable, your major may have an option within their department for you to take the course that fulfills your department or major requirement. For questions related to those options, please reach out to your academic advisor directly.

If you are only being "compensated" by credit, please select no.

We encourage all students to review the Fair Labor Standard Act #71, which highlights protections for interns. Our office takes this very seriously and will advocate for students and their wellbeing above all else.

Just In Case....

Positions that require 30+hours a week and pay less than legal minimum wage are in violation of CES' s interpretation of the Fair Labor Standards Act. (Please right click so the link opens in a new tab).

Consider either asking for less hours or discussing financial compensation of at least minimum wage in order for you to remain eligible for this course.

Ethics Agreement

The following is an ethics agreement that you will be responsible for upholding during your time in this course.

Please type your initials next to each statement to show that you have read it, understand it, and agree.

Students cannot take two different internship courses for the same internship at the same time. I am aware that if Career Exploration and Success (CES) determines that this policy has been violated, it will result in the grade of NC for the Rutgers Internship and Co-Op Course and potentially further consequences, depending on the severity of the situation.

I am aware that I cannot earn internship/co-op credit more than one time for the exact same experience. Any experience at the same organization/continuation of an internship/co-op must change.(Ex: If you're working at a company in the Fall and want to continue in the Spring, you can take this course again, but it must be for a different department or your title must change)

I authorize CES to share information included in my educational and internship/co-op record with their respective employer, and relevant Rutgers parties as needed.

I further authorize internship/co-op employers to release an evaluation of my performance to CES.

I understand that in order to be eligible for the internship credit, I must be enrolled in an internship/co-op course. Employers cannot issue internship credit - only an academic institution can. I cannot earn internship credit without being enrolled in a course, and I will only earn internship credit if I pass the course.

I understand that any documentation that is indicated to be signed or filled out by a supervisor must be filled out by that individual. I cannot fill out or sign any documentation on behalf of my supervisor, regardless of the circumstances. I understand that if I sign or fill out any documentation on behalf of my supervisor, it will be referred to the Office of Student Conduct..

I will notify CES immediately if there are any changes to the internship, including but not limited to: the job duties, the supervisor, the company name, the position/internship/co-op itself, compensation, or anything else in my internship/ co-op that are inconsistent with the terms to which I initially agreed.

I will notify CES immediately if, in my opinion, my internship or co-op subjects me to unhealthy or unsafe conditions or illegal behavior or activities, including sexual harassment, illegal discrimination, fraud, or safety code violations.

I acknowledge that I am liable for the payment of all federal, state, and local taxes imposed on the compensation I receive during my internship or co-op.

I also understand that any compensation I receive during my internship/co-op may affect my financial aid and that it is my responsibility to contact the Financial Aid Office to determine what effects, if any, will impact my financial aid eligibility.

I understand that my internship/co-op is only for a specific period of time while I remain enrolled as a student at Rutgers, that my internship/co-op will expire automatically, and that I will not seek unemployment compensation benefits at the expected end of my internship or co-op.

I understand that as a student of Rutgers University, I am representing the University in a professional setting, and as such I am expected to uphold the same levels of conduct as outlined by the student code of conduct and therefore any act of professional misconduct, or violation of the professional code of ethics may result in consequences.

I understand, acknowledge, and agree that in the event I violate any of the above provisions, or any Rutgers policy or procedure, I may be subject to the following sanctions: loss of academic credit for the internship or co-op experience, loss of eligibility to participate in future internships or co-ops, referral to the Rutgers Office of Student Conduct.

By checking this box, I verify that I've read and understood this application to the best of my ability and that all information provided in my application is accurate and true.
