Billion Oyster Project: Request for Research and Restoration Proposal

Billion Oyster Project is fortunate to collaborate with scientists and restoration practitioners from various industries and organizations. If you’d like to partner with us on a research and/or restoration proposal, please fill out this request form.


Proposal activities may include but are not limited to:

  • access to data (oyster demographics, water quality, biodiversity, etc.)
  • access to Billion Oyster Project’s sites (oyster reefs, oyster nurseries, facilities, etc.)
  • sampling of oysters, shells, benthos, water quality, etc.
  • support through consultation and/or collaboration


Please note that the completion of this form is not a guarantee that we can accommodate your request, but we will try our best!

If you are requesting access to BOP data, please indicate which data sets you would like to see and how you will use the data.

If you are requesting BOP oysters, describe the type (live, frozen, dead) quantity, size, and when you need them.

If you are requesting BOP shells, specify the quantity you are requesting (provide units in pounds or yards).

Are you requesting access to any of BOP's or NYHS's facilities or spaces? (Hatchery, Ecodock, Pier 101, in-water projects, etc.) Please list them here and describe how frequently you'd like to have access.

If you would like to collaborate or consult with our staff, please list the name/s of the persons who you would like to work with (if known) and how you hope they will collaborate with you. Include whether this will be a formal (funded) collaboration, or whether this will be an informal collaboration.

Oyster Request ONLY: If you are requesting live oysters, do you have a permit to collect (e.g., License to Collect and Possess - Scientific)? If yes, please include your permit number. If not, will you be requesting a permit?
