Summer Positions

Please Note: Positions require full presence and responsibility of the job description. If you are in college and have different commitments that may interfere with your job, please apply for a more suitable position.


Basic Job Overview:


As a general note, the day begins at 8 AM and ends at 8 pm. for most staff members. Campers are in school/class for a large chunk of the day, during which staff get a short break (except for waitresses, who are off after school hours). ODs are on duty up to twice a week in the evenings. Sleep-ins are on duty once a week and are on call at night. Every staff member is on the OD rotation.


Day Camp-Day camp counselors are for staff kids in day camp throughout the day, help with campers on days that day camp is not in session (ex: Shabbos), can volunteer with campers during free time.


Day Camp Teacher-Plans and runs day camp for head staff children.


Mother's Helper-Mother's helper for staff babies/toddlers throughout the day, can volunteer with campers during fee time.


Floater-Assist in bunkhouse with campers or specific camper morning until class time, assist a class or camper during school hours.


Helper-Assist (and sleeps with) specific bunk, Assigned random campers in bunk throughout the day, assists in classes


Lifeguard-Lifeguard, assist in classes, help with campers when pool is closed


Waitress-Waitress all meals, assist in classes.


Rotator-Rotating counselor for specific camper/s when counselor is on a day off/sick, assist in classes.


Photography-Takes pictures daily and posts on website, organizes picture files, assist in classes. Rotator on Shabbos.


Counselor-Fully responsible for camper, in touch with family, assist in classes.

Counselors in Camp Migdal for the first time must be ready to take any camper.


Camper Group Leader-To be discussed: Oversee and support campers and counselors in group


Staff Group Leader-To be discussed: Oversee and support Junior staff


Head Counselor-To be discussed: Programming


Teacher-To be discussed: Runs daily classes


Office-Secretary at Camp Migdal, assist directors or office manager


Head Waitress-Oversee waitresses, dining room & meals, and special diets


Medical Assistant-Assist nurses in infirmary with whatever is needed


Senior Staff and anyone on the Educational Team must have texting.

Full summer counselors get priority. Second half staff will receive campers based on second half availability.


First time counselors (that have never been to camp before) cannot make requests and need to be ready and willing to take any campers. You are welcome to include campers you work well with, however requests are taken into consideration for returning staff first.

  • Acceptance letters can be expected as of March 1st.


  • Camper requests cannot always be guaranteed but are taken into consideration; requests after the deadline are not applicable.


  • Please understand that many girls apply to Camp Migdal. It is truly a remarkable experience that stays with you. However, due to the numbers of applicants usually surpassing the open positions, it is impossible for every applicant to get accepted. Please understand that there is a chance of the applicant not getting accepted.


  • Upon acceptance and upon receiving the contract, applicant has 3 days to return the contract before being placed on the wait list.


  • Camp Migdal is a camp for awesome children and teenagers with special needs. Our campers disabilities range from Autism to Cerebral Palsy to many other diagnoses. Campers can be verbal or non verbal, mobile or non mobile, toilet trained or non toilet trained, (require diaper change), and/or can exhibit different behaviors at this time. Some have complex needs, seizure disorders, physical disabilities, or other medical conditions. All personal care is provided by our staff.


  • By agreeing to come to Camp Migdal, you agree to taking care of any child, at any age, and will meet their needs appropriately, and respectfully. Support and training is provided.
