STEM Exposure Request Form

The Center for Mathematics and Science Education at the University of Mississippi is excited to partner with teachers of grades K-12 to provide valuable learning experiences to students through a STEM Excursion or STEM Exploration! The STEM Exploration program is aimed at students in grades K-6 and provides hands-on STEM activities hosted by CMSE staff. The STEM Excursion program is aimed at students in grades 7-12 and provides tours and demonstrations put on by various STEM departments across campus.


After your request is received, we will reach out to you to determine a suitable date and time. You will then receive a quote for your STEM Experience. Upon your approval of the quote, an official reservation will be made.

Please note: Any changes to the number of participants must be made prior to ten business days before the event will take place, as invoices cannot be changed within ten business days of the event.

Is there a certain date by which you need to know if we can schedule your program? For example, do you have to submit a field trip request to your school by a certain date or are you writing a grant for this program? Please note that if your requested dates for the field trip are in the next semester of the school year, we will only be able to give you a tentative date for the program.

 
 

If you do not have lunch arrangements, please list that here and we will provide information on lunch options around Oxford and on the University of Mississippi campus. Please note that the CMSE does not provide lunch for a STEM Excursion or Exploration.

Policies and Payments

 

Cancellation Policy

It is the goal of the K-12 STEM Experiences Division within the Center for Mathematics and Science Education (CMSE) at the University of Mississippi to provide high-quality research-based STEM experiences to K-12 students. In order to adequately fulfill the many reservation requests that we receive, it is respectful to allow individuals on the waitlist adequate time to prepare for large-scale events/trips such as this.


Therefore, any registrant who needs to cancel their registration must do so no later than fifteen calendar days prior to the event. Registrants who cancel up to fifteen days prior to the event will receive a full refund of all fees paid in advance. However, registrants who cancel less than fifteen days prior to the event will be charged a cancellation fee of $100. Likewise, if a purchase order has been submitted as payment for registration and a registrant cancels less than fifteen days prior to the event, an invoice will be sent to the originator of the purchase order in the amount of the cancellation fee. In addition to cancellation, please contact the CMSE at cmsek12stem@go.olemiss.edu or call 662-915-6621 concerning any changes related to your scheduled event.

The associated costs for each STEM Exploration/Excursion are:


Event Fee – $150 is assessed per group.


Activity Fee –$5 is assessed per participating student. This fee covers the cost of instructional and kit materials used during activities.


For Example - The total cost for a first grade STEM Exploration for 50 students would be:

Event Fee + (Activity Fee * # of students) = Total Cost

$ 150 + ($5 * 50 students) = $400 which equates to approx. $8.00/student


Please keep in mind that groups will need to budget for transportation, lunches (if applicable), and any planned activity off campus (i.e., movie, bowling, etc.).
