Additional Details

Explanation: Eastern Health sets priorities and publishes a strategic plan that outlines priorities and goals. Innovators seeking to partner with the Living Lab must ensure their technology/ideas are aligned with EH strategic priorities and be clear within their submissions as to how they are aligned.

Explanation: The Living Lab seeks out innovations that will improve the health status and quality of life of people and patients, as well as those that will maximize efficiencies to reduce cost or improve service delivery and/or general revenue or encourage economic development in Newfoundland and Labrador. Applicants should clearly articulate/describe the impact of their innovation on one or more of these.

Explanation: The potential for a health technology to go to significant scale is dramatically improved by the presence of: a. healthcare market(s) that are not already saturated with similar technologies; b. the ability to automate and replicate processes to drive growth; c. the company has access to capital to drive growth; d. channel partnerships have been identified and secured; Applicants should address one or more of these components.

Explanation: How well do they understand technology development? Can they raise funds? Will they be able to drive product development and adoption with some assistance from EH? Are their collective skill sets deep enough?

Explanation: Do the innovator, their immediate team and their advisors instill confidence that they understand healthcare? Have they navigated the healthcare system before with other products or been involved in healthcare in a different role? Is anyone on the team a subject-matter expert of the area relevant to their proposed innovation?

Has a receptor/champion from Eastern Health been identified to support this innovation?*

Explanation: Receptors have unique subject matter expertise relevant to the innovation. The HIT can seek out receptors from within EH, but it is desirable for the innovator to have already identified a shortlist of potential receptors or departments within EH directly related to the proposed innovation.
