• Data storage on Quest is restricted to active research. You can use other data storage services at Northwestern to store your research data on a long-term basis. This includes the Research Data Storage Service (RDSS) and to a lesser degree Northwestern OneDrive/SharePoint.
• You cannot share your NetID and password with another user. If you want another person at Northwestern University to access your data, submit an application to join an existing allocation.
• If you are planning to submit a large number of jobs on Quest and have never done this before, please contact an HPC Specialist for guidance. You can contact us at quest-help@northwestern.edu. Jobs that crash the scheduler will be deleted from the system and in some circumstances your access to Quest will be suspended until this is resolved.
• Please remove or migrate unneeded data on Quest to another Northwestern University storage service or to another computer that is not part of the Quest cluster. Data stored on Quest will be automatically removed after the allocation expires without warning.
• You cannot use Quest to mine bitcoins or backup your personal computer. The Quest resources are not available for these purposes.
• Deliberate or inadvertent misuse of the Quest resources may result in your associated accounts being locked, your running jobs canceled, and your access to the cluster terminated.
• Your email address will automatically be added to the Quest-Announce and NUIT-Research listservs when your account is created. You may unsubscribe yourself at any time; however, we recommend you stay subscribed to Quest-Announce to receive critical announcements regarding service availability, maintenance, and updates.
