WIA Membership Categories/Section

All Active Members and Associate Members enjoy the same annual membership dues at $600 USD.


ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP IS DEFINED AS:


Any business entity having a physical presence in North America and engaged in either (a) the domestic or foreign manufacture of woodworking machinery or ancillary equipment or supplies used or sold by manufacturers of woodworking machinery or (b) the sale of such machinery, ancillary equipment or supplies in North America shall be eligible to apply to become an Active Member of the Association.


ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP DEFINITIONS & EXAMPLES:

  • Physical presence is defined as having a physical business establishment with a street address located in the United States, Canada or Mexico. Applicant must provide a current business license that matches that address.
  • Examples of ancillary equipment (ie. equipment that is connected to woodworking machinery) include: dust collection, air filtration, air conditioning and humidification, compressors, air handling, integrators, robotics, etc.
  • Examples of supplies include: adhesives, coatings, lacquers and finishes, dowels, hinges, tooling, sandpaper, labels, software, etc.


ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP IS DEFINED AS:


Any business entity or individual with a physical presence in North America whose activities and specialized services support the Association's basic purposes, but who or which does not meet the criteria for Active membership.


  • Associate Members may include, but shall not be limited to, law and accounting firms, trade publications, banks, finance, data processing, public relations/advertising companies and management consultants.


Any educational institutions that have an accredited woodworking curriculum.

As a member, you’ll have the opportunity to "self-select" a Section that best aligns with your company's role in the commercial chain – whether you're a distributor, domestic manufacturer, importer or foreign manufacturer. We may have tailored communications or meetings for each Section in the future, guided by the leadership of each respective Section.


Section Descriptions:


  • Domestic Manufacturer - A business entity that manufactures industrial woodworking machinery, ancillary equipment and/or supplies in the North America (United States, Canada or Mexico).
  • Importer/Foreign Manufacturer - A business entity that imports new industrial woodworking machinery, ancillary equipment and/or supplies for the purpose of resale for its own account in North America.
  • Distributor - A business entity that sells industrial woodworking machinery, ancillary equipment and/or supplies not of its own manufacture, direct to the user, as a distributor. Note: A firm, corporation, partnership or individual functioning solely as a manufacturer’s representative, agent or employee, under the direct ownership or control of the manufacturers he or she represents, is not considered a distributor.
