Bus Shelter Art Competition

The South MLK. Jr Blvd Corridor Improvement Authority is partnering with the Capital Area Transportation Authority, to host an art competition to add artwork to covered bus shelters along S. MLK Jr. Blvd. and adjacent streets.


We are soliciting 2D artwork proposals with south side of Lansing and/or Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. theme. Your submissions can include static digital art (graphic designs at 300 DPI or vector), paintings, or drawings.


The artwork will be converted into a vinyl wrap and installed by CATA. The artwork will be displayed on the back of the shelter and one side panel (reference pictures Included in the guidelines link).


Artist will be compensated $500 for each art proposal selected.

Art Submission

In this section you will upload your 2D artwork submission for this competition and have the chance to describe your artwork to the review panel.   

  •  All art submissions must be creative and unique work. Any plagiarized work will be disqualified from the competition.
  • Your submissions can include static digital art (graphic design), paintings, or drawings
  •  We must be able to transfer the artwork on the covered bus shelter.
  • Submission must be in the intended color of the final proposal
  • Include multiple perspectives or views if necessary.
