The City of Cambridge is pleased to expand the Small Business Compost Pilot for Fall 2022. The purpose of this Pilot is to assist our small business community in composting and reducing waste, while doing so affordably. Approximately 40 businesses will be selected for the expanded Pilot. If selected, businesses will receive free collection of up to 2 compost carts twice per week.
The collection service and the carts are provided by the City of Cambridge at no cost to the selected businesses. This compost program will collect food waste only. All Small Businesses in Cambridge are invited to apply for the program. Please fill out this form to apply for the Small Business Compost Pilot. For questions, contact DPW at: recycle@cambridgema.gov
In the event that more businesses submit an application than has been budgeted by DPW, special consideration will be given to businesses with the following characteristics: 1. Primarily restaurant or food-service establishment 2. Not a Formula Business as defined in the Cambridge Zoning Code, Article 2 3. 51% women or minority-owned business 4. 51% Cambridge resident-owned Please fill out the information below.

The Small Business Compost Pilot will offer up to two 65-gallon carts for twice per week collection. Compost materials must not contain more than 5% contamination. Repeated over-contamination of compost carts may result in a business being removed from the Pilot.
