2023 Farmworker Food Access Grant Application
You are invited to apply for Washington County’s Farmworker Food Access Grants. This one-time funding opportunity supports community organizations that serve farmworkers, migratory and seasonal agricultural workers by providing direct food, essential need, and climate health resources.
The total funding amount available for this opportunity is $300,000 and applicants are eligible for grants ranging between $30,000 and $150,000. Grant applications will be accepted between March 1, 2023 at 8AM and March 31, 2023 at 5PM, and disbursement of funds and project implementation will take place between June 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023.
Eligible program focus areas and activities include the following:
- Distribution of culturally appropriate food
- Distribution of resources to address essential needs, such as hygiene products, household goods, and baby supplies
- Distribution of climate or emergency preparedness resources, such as UV resistant clothing, bandanas, cold and heat-related clothing or gear, fans and cooling equipment, coolers to store food products
- Distribution of gift cards to improve access to culturally relevant foods, essential needs, and climate-related supplies
- Staff and labor costs to support programming
Successful applications will ensure the following eligibility criteria are met:
- Services will support individuals and families within Washington County
- Program or project will focus on distributing resources to migratory and seasonal agricultural workers and farmworkers
- Examples include culturally relevant foods, baby and hygiene supplies, heat and wildfire-protective gear and PPE
- The organization holds expertise serving farmworkers, migratory and seasonal agricultural workers, and immigrant communities
- The organization has infrastructure in place to manage monthly fiscal reporting alongside mid and end point programmatic reporting requirements including contract close out of 12/31/2023
- The organization is able to collect and report REALD data for the populations served
Reporting requirements and grantee supports:
Washington County staff will provide monthly support to grantees to answer questions and provide examples of required documentation. Reporting includes:
- Monthly fiscal reporting including an invoice of costs and services rendered with all supportive receipts and documentation
- Midway and end point/contract close out programmatic reporting that will include the collection of REALD data
Throughout the duration of the contract, grantees will be provided support to ensure any fiscal or programmatic questions are answered. Grantees will receive assistance as needed throughout the contracting process, and Washington County staff will provide clear timelines for the contract and funding disbursement processes.
