Northwestern University Office of Risk Management has outlined the Safe Driver program to serve as a guide to promote the safety of drivers and passengers when vehicles are used on University business and outline the eligibility, requirements, and responsibilities of those who drive on behalf of the University.

As part of the Safe Driver Program, Students, Staff, and Faculty who operate University-owned and/or rented vehicles are required to complete the Driver application which may subject them to consenting to a Motor Vehicle Record review and/or completing the Defensive Driving Courses.

In consideration of being authorized to drive a University vehicle, all approved drivers will be monitored for regular compliance with the procedures, policies, and provisions of the Safe Driver Program. The Office of Risk Management will complete frequent and routine MVR checks.
