American Indian Non-Resident Tuition Waiver

Students must meet a domicile requirement of living in Washington, Idaho, Montana, and/or Oregon for the previous 12 months AND must be a member of a federal recognized Indian tribe with traditional and customary boundaries included in Washington state or whose tribe was granted reserved lands within Washington state.

Domicile Requirement

There is a domicile requirement to use this non-resident tuition waiver. You must live in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and/or Montana for 12 months prior to the start of the semester that you are requesting to receive resident tuition.

Federally Recognized Tribe requirement not met

The law requires that students must be members of one of the federally recognized Indian tribes whose traditional and customary tribal boundaries included portions of the state of Washington, or whose tribe was granted reserved lands within the state of Washington. Federal recognition of an Indian tribe shall be as determined under 25 C.F.R. by the United States bureau of Indian affairs. The state law. Have you uploaded your Tribal documents to Student Financial Services (SFS)?*

You may have uploaded your Tribal documents as part of the scholarship application process. If the Residency Officer is upable to find your documents, you will receive an email at your WSU email address requesting that you submit them.
