REQUIREMENTS FOR SECURING/RENEWAL OF VENDOR LICENSE


Applicant must submit the following:


1. Michigan State Sales Tax License or Social Security Number www.michigan.gov


2. Two (2) current clear color photos (1½ x 2½ ) taken without shaded glasses or hats (NO EXCEPTION)


3. HEALTH DEPARTMENT INSPECTIONS ARE REQUIRED EVERY YEAR ON ALL VEHICLES OR CARTS SELLING FOOD ITEMS.


4. A valid (CURRENT) MICHIGAN issued Driver’s License is required for operators of vehicle. A valid (CURRENT) MICHIGAN issued State I.D. card is required for all other applicants.


5. All license fees must be paid by CASH, MONEY ORDER, and VISA OR MASTERCARD.


6. VETERANS MUST HAVE A DD214 FOR FEE WAIVER. (HONORABLE DISCHARGE ONLY)

HELPERS MUST ACCOMPANY VENDORS. Helpers must have two (2) current clear color pictures. Helpers are allowed only with Street Vendors, Stationary or Food Vendor-Push Cart. No more than two (2) helpers are allowed for each vendor.

The below requested “Vendor Location” MUST NOT be in violation of any of the following, in order to be considered for Licensing.



    A. PUBLIC SIDEWALK ONLY


    B. Minimum of 10 foot width of Public Sidewalk clearance from the curb to the start of and Private Property Line


    C. Within 20 feet of a Bus Stop


    D. Within 20 feet of a Pedestrian Crosswalk


    E. Within 20 feet of a Fire Hydrant


    F. Within 20 feet of a Sidewalk Café


    G. Within 20 feet of an Emergency Exit of a Building’s Entrance Way


    H. Within 20 feet of display windows for any established business


    I. Within 20 feet of a Driveway


    J. Within 20 feet of a Corner


    K. At least 200 feet away from any School Property


    L. At least 300 feet away from any Sports Arena or Stadium


    M. Cannot be on any sidewalk abutting Residentially Developed or Residentially Zoned properties


    N. Cannot be within 100 feet of Licensed Vendor selling like items



List three (3) desired locations in the order of their preference.


In order to be investigated, the locations must be precise.

(EXAMPLE: NW corner of Woodward & Jefferson, or SW corner of Michigan & Central)


Failure to be precise in the requested locations will be grounds for denial.

Pursuant to Detroit, Michigan Code of Ordinances, Part III, chapter 41, Peddlers, Solicitors and Vendors, Article 11, Vending on Public Property, ONLY the following items may be sold from a Stationary “Edible” Vending Location;


1) Coffee, Beverages and Frankfurters as approved by the Institute for Population Health


2) Confections and Pre-package Snack Foods that are not potentially hazardous
