The Sanford Health Foundation of Northern Minnesota is proud to offer the annual Gildersleeve Family Memorial Scholarship, made possible through a dedicated endowment fund.

Originally established in honor of Jim Gildersleeve—our beloved husband, father, and "Santa"—who dedicated over 20 years to working and volunteering within our organization, this scholarship has grown into a lasting legacy for our entire family. In the spirit of care, compassion, and commitment to our community, we are honored to support those pursuing careers in healthcare.

This scholarship is available to current Sanford Health employees in the Bemidji region who are furthering their education and advancing their careers in healthcare. Through this opportunity, our family hopes to empower and inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals, ensuring that the values of service and care continue for years to come.

Eligibility:

• Applicants must be an employee at Sanford Health of Northern Minnesota (SHNM) pursuing a career in the health-related field.
• Employee is in good standing, with no current disciplinary action pending at Sanford Health or their academic institution.
• Employee must have a 2.5 grade point average or above.

A complete application MUST include the following information:

• Completed application form
• Unofficial transcript(s) from your current school
• One character recommendation from counselor/principal or supervisor (Link of recommendation form will be sent to recommender to complete upon application submission)

Award: Two $1,200 scholarships will be awarded annually.

Award Distribution:

• Payment or reimbursement will be sent to the employee's institution in August.

Applicants are responsible for verifying that all necessary information is included in the application when it is submitted. The Foundation Office is not responsible for tracking if letters of reference have or have not been submitted. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
