Rotation Agreement
This form must be filled out by the Faculty Rotation Mentor and the Rotation Student prior to the start of the Rotation, and specific activities, requirements, and expectations should be discussed and agreed upon.
As a reminder, Rotations are expected to last approximately 150 hours and provide an opportunity for the Student to gain exposure to the research done in the Rotation Lab by:
- understanding the current knowledge in the field
- learning about the underlying hypotheses that drive the current lab research
- directly participating in experiments, including experimental design, data analysis and interpretation
Original Data: Although obtaining original data is not a requirement for the Rotation, it is highly encouraged if an appropriate Rotation project is identified.
Student Learning Outcomes/BSGP Core Goals: Rotations should also be an opportunity for the Rotation Mentor to evaluate the Student’s performance to further their development as a Researcher. The BSGP has established the following Student Learning Outcomes/BSGP Core Goals that should be developed at every opportunity:
- Competent, skilled experimentalists
- Problem solvers
- Critical and independent thinkers
- Expert in the field with both depth and breadth of knowledge in the field
- Excellent communicators
- Exemplars of high ethical standards
- Collaborators and team players
