Internship Experience Application
Objective:
To facilitate practical experience in the battery industry for undergraduate and graduate students through internships with companies in the Southern Tier and Upstate New York.

Pay: $22/hour
Housing: Provided
Travel & Food Stipends: Eligible for up to $500 in travel reimbursement and a $750 food stipend.
About the Upstate New York Energy Storage Engine:
The Upstate New York Energy Storage Engine, led by Binghamton University, is a U.S. National Science Foundation-funded, place-based innovation program. The coalition of more than 40 academic, industry, nonprofit, state and community organizations includes Cornell University, Rochester Institute of Technology, Syracuse University, LAUNCH-NY and NY-BEST as core partners. The Engine advances next-gen battery technology development and manufacturing to drive economic growth and bolster national security. Batteries are the building blocks of modern technology. Battery technologies, in particular lithium-ion batteries (LiBs), are the dominant form of energy storage used today in consumer electronics, transportation systems, medical devices, electric grids, defense systems, and AI data centers; however, critical research and technology challenges remain to be addressed across the battery life cycle spanning materials, cell manufacturing, applications, and sustainable end-of-life processing including recycling and reuse.
Energy Storage Internship Experience:
The Energy Storage Internship runs from June 2, 2025 to August 8, 2025, offering students the opportunity to work alongside industry mentors on real-world challenges in the energy storage and battery sector. Interns will contribute to projects that drive advancements in battery and energy storage solutions, gaining practical experience and insight into the field.
