Metal Detector Permit Application
- Metal Detector Permit is applicable only on Clearwater Beach, from Somerset Street to the jetty at 430 S. Gulfview Boulevard from the water line to the high-tide mark.
- Parents or guardians are responsible for signing applications for their child/minor/ward.
- Metal detector use is prohibited from contributing to trailblazing and should not be conducted in prohibited areas or areas where such activity is discouraged (wetlands, environmentally sensitive areas, archaeological sites, areas of historical significance, or within any building or structure).
- Immediately report all discoveries of archaeological or human remains to the Florida Division of Historical Resources at (850) 245-6444.
- While employing a metal detector, the surrounding environment shall not be disturbed. The cutting and/or removal of vegetation is strictly prohibited.
- Metal detecting is prohibited in construction areas.
- If physical signs of activity are detrimentally impacting the use of a City-owned property, City staff has the ability to restrict metal detection in that area.
- All Clearwater Park Usage guidelines must be followed while metal detecting. Any person(s) found in violation of Park Usage guidelines will result in the immediate revocation of their Metal Detector Permit and will be restricted from metal detecting for up to one (1) year. Grievous disregard for Park Usage and Metal Detector guidelines may result in expulsion from the City-owned property and will result in additional action by the appropriate law enforcement agency.
- City staff reserves the right to revoke a Metal Detector Permit or cease the Metal Detector program at any time.
