Hello,

Thank you for reaching out about a letter of endorsement – how exciting that you're planning to volunteer out with the UK.

If your host country requires a letter of endorsement to support your application, you can request one using this form.

As part of our endorsement process, we will check you have:

• A current full adult member role on ‘my membership’,

• A valid disclosure,

• Up-to-date Safety and Safeguarding training, and

• A suitability check from your County / Region / Area Lead Volunteer

Unfortunately, we’re unable to issue a letter if any of these requirements are incomplete.

For major events like JPT, WSJ Poland, or Moot:

Letters of endorsement will only be processed once we have been advised by the organisers that they wish to appoint. Until then, requests will be placed on hold. If your application is unsuccessful, please let the Support Centre know so we can cancel your request.

Please note that once the organisers confirm their selection, it may take a few weeks to process the letter. Event organisers are aware of this timeline. If you receive direct confirmation from an organiser that they wish to appoint you, please notify the Support Centre immediately and include written confirmation from the organiser.

For Network members:

If you only have a Network role, you’ll need to add an appropriate adult role, apply for a disclosure, and complete Safety and Safeguarding training. Your District can guide you on which role to add. Once your new role is active, you can reapply for the letter.

Whilst organisers may prepare a risk assessment for an event, this is very unlikely to extend to your travel and therefore you MUST prepare your own risk assessment that covers travel, your safety whilst travelling and any other matters not covered by the organisers.

I confirm that I understand that I am responsible for arranging my own travel insurance, if required to travel internationally as part of the role, and that The Scout Association does not provide this insurance.*
