The majority of child sexual abuse is perpetrated in isolated, one-on-one situations. By reducing such interactions between children and adults, you reduce the risk of child sexual abuse. However, ASU also knows that sometimes, one-on-one situations are unavoidable (like after programming when only one youth remains, etc.) and sometimes, one-on-one situations are part of the program design (like with tutoring, coaching, mentoring, etc.).
In those situations where one-on-one interactions is unavoidable and approved, the Sponsoring Department must take the following safeguards to ensure the minors are safe and protected during the one-to-one interactions.
