Fitness for All Ages Volunteer Interest Sign-Up Form

  • Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Live Well San Diego 5K! This year, the 5K will be back in person at the Waterfront Park on Sunday, September 18, at 7:30 AM.


  • There are multiple volunteer shifts and roles available, including setup, registration, water stations, course marshals, cleanup, and more. Volunteer positions are available on a first-come, first-served basis.


  • Volunteer Orientations will be offered both during business hours and after hours.

Roles and Responsibilities:


Pre-Event Packet Pickup (9/15 & 9/17)

  • Welcome and register participants, pass out bibs, and race packets.

Pre-Event Setup (9/17)

  • Unload trucks; set up the food court, registration, expo, banners, and more; assist where needed.

Are you interested in volunteering for a full 8-hour shift on the day of the event?*

The Live Well 5K will take place on Sunday, September 18th, 2022. 8-hour shifts are designated from 5 AM - 2 PM.

The 8-hour shift includes a morning shift paired with Post-Race Festival and Clean-up Team responsibilities. Please select to confirm the 8-hour time slot below.*

Roles and Responsibilities (partial shift)

5 AM - 10 AM Opportunities:


Course Marshal:

  • Be the eyes and ears of the course - Assist park patrons in safely crossing the course, look out for injured participants and call for medical help if needed, and cheer on runners.

Course Water Station:

  • Set up and break down fluid stations, hand out cups of water, maintain a clean station, and cheer on runners.

Exhibitor Check-in:

  • Check in vendors and direct them to their tables for setup.

Finish Line Timer:

  • Assist the timing company with tracking runners' race times.

Floater:

  • Staff designated as floaters will assist wherever needed.

Pre-Race Setup:

  • Unload trucks; set up the food court, registration, expo, banners, and more; assist where needed.

Registration/Packet Distribution:

  • Welcome and register participants, pass out bibs, and race packets.

Start/Finish Line:

  • Load the corrals at the starting line, keep traffic flowing at the finish line, look out for injured runners, and provide medals to participants.

VIP Parking:

  • Assist VIPs with parking and directing pedestrian traffic to the event.

Volunteer Check-in/Information Booth:

  • Check volunteers in and out, and distribute volunteer t-shirts and vests.


10 AM - 2 PM Opportunities:


Post-Race Festival:

  • Set up post-race festival activities and food booths, distribute food, and assist with cleanup

Clean-up Team:

  • Assist in closing out the event.

There is no guarantee that primary preferences can be granted. Preferences will be used as a guide. However, you should plan for an alternative assignment should your first preference be over-subscribed.
