JMU Honors College Application

The mission of the JMU Honors College is to develop a diverse community of inquisitive and aspirational learners from all parts of campus through distinctive and challenging educational opportunities.


We are currently accepting applications for:

  • Spring 2024 admission for currently enrolled JMU students,
  • Fall 2024 admission for incoming first-year students


Transfer students can apply to Honors for Spring 2024 after they have been admitted to JMU.


The application requires an essay. We recommend you compose your essay in a word processing program before beginning the online application. Essay prompts and guidelines are available at https://www.jmu.edu/honors/apply/index.shtml.

Pell-eligible students receive a scholarship in the amount of the fee to fully offset its cost; partial fee scholarships are available to students with demonstrated financial need.
