Petition to Add the Memorial of St. Lydia to the Archdiocesan Calendar
Allow us to introduce you to (or reacquaint you with) a new friend of ours, St. Lydia of Philippi. As you may know, St. Lydia was St. Paul’s first European convert. While she is mentioned in only three verses in all of scripture (Acts 16:14,15,40), she is commonly understood to have been pivotal in the support of St. Paul and the unleashing of the Gospel. Through the immense kindness of some dear friends, we’ve come to know St. Lydia as a beautiful witness of conversion, love of the Church, and the Priesthood, and she’s among the close communion of saints to whom we now regularly turn for help. She has stirred our imaginations deeply, particularly as it relates to her unique role in the life of the Church.
Would you be so kind as to prayerfully consider adding your name to the growing list of Detroit Catholics who support requesting that the Archbishop ask the Vatican Dicastery for Divine Worship to approve
including St. Lydia’s Memorial in the Liturgical calendar of the Archdiocese? With this approval, we could celebrate this liturgy in honor of this beautiful Saint.
