Advanced approval is REQUIRED when an adjunct faculty will be assigned teaching hours that exceed the contractual limits based on their hire date.

Please refer to Section 21.6, "Part-time Teaching-Hour Limitations", in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) or in this chart.

Advanced approvals are granted ONLY for extenuating circumstances, and when it is unavoidable for the adjunct faculty to have to teach excess hours.

It is important that the adjunct faculty is asked if they are teaching in more than one department, since that may also affect their teaching-hour limitation.
