Report Poor Practice Concerns including Safety Concerns

This form is to be used to report an incident or concern over poor practice within fencing. This could relate to safety (eg fencing sabre in shorts) or welfare (eg perhaps something you have seen on social media that you are uncomfortable with and would like BF to look into). It could also relate to a minor breach of BF policy.

You do not need to give your name to report poor practice. However, we encourage that personal information is disclosed to enable appropriate follow up. If you don’t supply any personal data we will not be able to follow up with you if we need clarification, and if appropriate cannot update you on progress. We may be able to keep your details anonymous (see below to indicate preferences).

Depending on the concern(s) being raised we may be able to keep your anonymity as we investigate.

All information received will be treated in confidence and only shared on a need to know basis with those individuals who will be able to manage the situation.  On occasion it may be necessary to seek advice, or inform the statutory agencies e.g. the Police or Local Authority Services. When investigating safeguarding concerns it may also be necessary and appropriate to contact those responsible for safeguarding in other organisations, such as schools and clubs, and share information with them. In these cases we may share personal your data.


As this form relates to welfare BF reserve the right to store and retain the personal data you have provided in this form indefinitely.


Complaints or Queries

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, 2018, you have rights as an individual which you can exercise in relation to the information we hold about you. BF tries to meet the highest standards when collecting and using personal information. For this reason, we take any complaints we receive about this very seriously. We encourage people to bring it to our attention if they think that our collection or use of information is unfair, misleading or inappropriate. We would also welcome any suggestions for improving our procedures.


This Privacy Notice was drafted with brevity and clarity in mind. It does not provide exhaustive detail of all aspects of the BF’s collection and use of personal information. Access to your data

BF tries to be as open as we can be in terms of giving people access to their personal information. Individuals can find out if we hold any personal information by making a ‘subject access request’ under the General Data Protection Regulation May 2018. If we do hold information about you, we will:

•    tell you why we are holding it;

•    tell you who it could be disclosed to; and

•    let you have a copy of the information in an intelligible form.
