As part of our commitment to recognize our highly-dedicated staff members and increase the visibility of their work, we have established the SPIRIT OF DOM Award (for Service, Professionalism, Inclusivity, Responsibility, Inspiration, and Teamwork in the Department of Medicine).

This award aims to recognize our staff members who exemplify the UCSF PRIDE Values and make the DOM and UCSF a better place to work. All staff members — represented or non-represented, administrative, clinical, or research — are eligible, including non-faculty academics in the professional research, specialist, academic administrator, and academic coordinator series. Volunteers, faculty, student interns, post-docs, and other trainees are not eligible. The SPIRIT of DOM Award recognizes and celebrates a minimum of four staff members per year (~two awardees per cycle), who meet the following criteria:

• Have been employed by the Department of Medicine for at least one year prior to the nomination date
• Have earned a satisfactory or better performance evaluation during the past year
• Serve as role models and inspire other UCSF colleagues
• Go above and beyond the call of duty and make a difference due to their extraordinary efforts to implement UCSF PRIDE Values
• Make DOM and UCSF a better place through their commitment and dedication to the organization
• Make a positive difference in the lives of our employees, patients, and the community as a whole

It is important to note this award does not preclude any recipient from being nominated or receiving other UCSF or School-wide recognition awards.

Each SPIRIT of DOM awardee receives the following: - A $75 gift card from Amazon.com - Team-based lunchtime meal - Virtual presentation of award at a ceremony led by DOM Chair and Vice Chairs - Engraved award plaque - Recognition in the DOM Newsletter.

Anyone can nominate a DOM staff member using this form.

A note about notifications: ALL nominees, regardless of being chosen to receive this award or not, will receive notifications of their nomination and copies of their nomination letter(s) following the completion of the award cycle.
