SCA (Vic) Practising OC Manager Membership Application

Application for an Individual employed as an Owners Corporation (Strata) Manager by a Company/Business that holds SCA (Vic) Corporate Strata Management Company Membership.


Membership period 1 July 2024 - 30 June 2025


Application for SCA (Vic) Individual membership within an Owners Corporation Management membership.


As per the Constitution, membership applicant name will be circulated to members via advertising names in the members section of the web site. Existing members have 30 days to notify SCA (Vic) Board of any relevant matters. After these 30 days the application will be considered at the first opportunity at the meeting of the SCA (Vic) Board. Once the application has been considered by the SCA (Vic) Board, the applicant will be informed of the result.


Privacy Policy: The data provided shall remain confidential by SCA (Vic) and SCA National. By Board resolution, SCA (Vic) and SCA National are not permitted to disclose this information to other parties, including Board members, in a manner that would identify an individual.

Supporting Information and Documentation

All supporting documentation must be provided to SCA (Vic) before the application can be considered complete. Only completed applications will be listed on the website for 30 days before going to the SCA (Vic) Board for consideration.

  • Authorised Representative Status: Proof of Individual Authorised Representative status (certificate of training) of insurance company/companies/broker/s holding an Australian Financial Services Licence OR Completion of the Vic Insurance Authority Training (The Key Facts) Education Course (purchase at this link)


  • Police Record Check / National Name Check - no more than 6 months old (This can be completed online or via this link)


  • Details of your Owners Corporation (Strata) Management Experience (This can be a short paragraph submitted on Company/Business letterhead)


If all of the above documents are not provided, your application will not be considered complete and will not be accepted. SCA (Vic) reserves the right to request that a new application be completed should these documents not be provided.

Please note that it is the applicant's responsibility to ensure all required documentation is submitted for the membership application to progress. SCA (Vic) Office will not follow up missing documentation. If all documents are not received within 14 days of this application being submitted, the application will lapse.

Completion of Cert IV in Strata Community Management or Certificate IV Property Services (Operations) can enable you to apply for Accreditation. Please provide documentation with this application or email the office.


Declaration

In the last 12 months, have you been convicted of any offence involving a criminal charge, or is there any charge pending?*
In the last 12 months, are you or have you been a debtor in any Sequestration Order, Deed of Assignment, Composition, or Deed or Arrangement under the provisions of the Bankruptcy Act?*
In the last 12 months, are you or have you been a Director of a company to which a Receiver, a Provisional Liquidator, a Liquidator, a Scheme Manager, or an Official Manager has been appointed while you were a Director, or within six months after you ceased to be a director?*
In the last 12 months, have you been refused membership of a statutory, professional or other body in respect of your professional capacity?*
In the last 12 months, have you been subject to disciplinary proceedings by a statutory, professional of other body in respect of your professional capacity?*


Advertising as a member: The Corporate membership may be advertised by the Company/Business and all individual members of that Company/Business. An electronic image is available from SCA (Vic) for this purpose.


Change of Details: Members must notify the SCA (Vic) if any details change from this membership application. Details include but are not limited to address, phone number, email address, company you work for, number of owners corporation managers practising in company.


Cancellation of Membership: Membership may be cancelled either by SCA (Vic), the Practising Member or the Corporate Strata Management company as set out in the SCA (Vic) Constitution.

Ethics/CPD Requirements

SCA (Vic) has created an 'Ethics in Strata Community' short online course which is compulsory for all Corporate Strata Management Company members to complete.


Before your application can be submitted for Board approval, you must complete this course. On receipt of your membership application (with all required documentation) a profile will be created for you on our membership system and login details will be provided to you.


The 'Ethics in Strata Community' short online course will be allocated into your profile and you will receive instructions via email on how to access the course. If the 'Ethics in Strata Community' is not completed within 14 days of receiving the notification with access details to the online course, your membership application will be void.

As a Practising member, you have several new opportunities and responsibilities:


  •  6 CPD points must be achieved annually.


  • At least 50% of these points must come from SCA-facilitated activities and events. The remaining points can be obtained through SCA or external training.


  • If you joined during the membership period (1 July to 30 June), CPD points will be calculated pro-rata (0.5 CPD per month). All points, including those from external sources, will be verified by SCA (Vic) to ensure compliance for renewal and accreditation eligibility.

I hereby confirm that the Company/Business subject to this membership holds an appropriate level of Professional Indemnity Insurance and will continue to maintain an appropriate level of Professional Indemnity Insurance for the duration of this membership.

1. The information provided in this application is true and correct.


2. I have read and agree to abide by SCA (Vic) Code of Conduct and actively support the activities conducted by SCA (Vic).


3. As a member, I shall be bound by the SCA (Vic) Constitution of SCA (Vic) and any other guidance or standard formally approved and adopted by SCA (Vic).


4. I hereby confirm that I understand if my membership is suspended or revoked, I am unable to advertise my SCA (Vic) membership or continue to use the SCA (Vic) Contract of Appointment. In addition to this, I will also notify my clients accordingly as directed by the SCA (Vic) Board.


5. I acknowledge that SCA (Vic) does not provide a guarantee for growth of my business.


6. I accept that my membership will cease when SCA (Vic) is notified that I am no longer employed by this Company. Where an Individual Owners Corporation Manager Member or Support Staff Member changes employment with a Owners Corporation Management Member, he/she must notify SCA (Vic) within 1 month of commencing with the company. If the new company is not a member of the SCA (Vic) as a Owners Corporation Management Member an application can be lodged within 3 months of the commencement of employment to avoid the cessation of the individual membership.
