This form has been designed to help you inform us of your wish to start a new club to take part in Football across Cumberland. Any data you provide below will be used to inform our discussions with you to assist with providing the most appropriate environment for you to play football.

Each grassroots club is required to have a named club treasurer to lead on the financial aspects of the club. Each club is also required to have a club based bank account with a minimum of 2 signatories on the account. Its is recommended the signatories are not people residing in the same family/household.


This person will also need the relevant FA qualifications in order to become compliant with FA Safeguarding Regulations. (More detail around what is needed will be provided following submission of this form)

Based on the type of club you are looking to set up, the need for a Child Welfare Officer may be relevant. If you are planning to set up a club with players who are U18, you will need a Club Welfare Officer in place. This person will also need the relevant FA qualifications in order to become compliant with FA Safeguarding Regulations. Each league in Cumberland has either achieved the England Accreditation Award or is working towards achieving, which means each member club is obliged to complete the England Accreditation Application within 12 months of joining their respective league.


England Football Accreditation is a kite mark that shows clubs are operating to a high level, prioritising the welfare of their players and volunteers. Becoming England Accredited has benefits of free footballs and the potential to access more funding for your club.
