Pathway Plans for Current Students
JMU Honors College students should complete this form to inform the Honors College of their chosen Honors pathway by the end of the first semester of their junior year.
Minor Only Pathway
- Requires 19 hours of Honors Core coursework
- Students earn a Minor in Honors Interdisciplinary Studies.
Minor + Senior Portfolio Project Pathway
- Requires 19 hours of Honors Core coursework, 3 additional hours of Honors-approved coursework, and completion of HON 401 and HON 402 (25 hours total)
- Students earn a Minor in Honors Interdisciplinary Studies and Honors Scholar designation.
Minor + Departmental Capstone Pathway
- Requires 19 hours of Honors Core coursework and 6 hours for a departmental capstone (most often a three-semester 499 sequence in a major or minor).
- Students earn a Minor in Honors Interdisciplinary Studies, Honors Scholar designation, and graduation with distinction in their capstone field.
Honors Project for Non-Minor Students
- Current JMU students who are not pursuing the minor in Honors Interdisciplinary Studies may pursue independent scholarship leading to the completion of an Honors Capstone Project in their chosen major or minor. Students earn graduation with distinction in their capstone field.
