District 5 Health Department Programs
- Audiology: The Pediatric Audiology Program serves infants and children, birth through 18 years of age. Our pediatric audiologists work to ensure children with hearing loss are able to get a timely diagnosis and any intervention they need.
- Car Seat Program: Anyone is able to schedule an appointment for a free car seat safety check. A limited number of car seats and booster seats are available at no cost to eligible families.
- Child Guidance: The Child Guidance team is here to help families and caregivers address current concerns, understand their child's developmental needs, and encourage nurturing relationships to ensure a healthy future for children, families, and the community. The Child Guidance program has three professional components designed to provide a continuum of services to build healthy family relationships and enhance child development; Child Development, Speech Language Pathology and Behavioral Health. Children birth to age 18, their families, and caregivers are eligible. Services are provided on a sliding fee scale based on income and the size of the family. Medicaid and some private insurances are accepted.
- Children First: Children First provides personal visits with specially trained nurses beginning early in the pregnancy and continuing through the child’s second birthday. To qualify, you must be a first-time mother, enrolled before 29th week of pregnancy with an income at or below 185% of federal poverty level. A Registered Nurse will visit you in the home during pregnancy and continue until your baby is 2 years old. The goal of the voluntary, evidence-based program is to empower families to better care for themselves and their babies by providing information, education, health assessments, safety and developmental consultation, and connecting participants with available community resources.
- Clinical Services: The health department provides a variety of clinical services. Many services are provided on a sliding fee scale based on income and the size of the family. Medicaid and some private insurances are accepted.
- Family Planning: Family Planning helps prevent unplanned pregnancies. We help families and individuals to plan and space their children. These services are available to both men and women, and also include pap smears, breast exams and contraception.
- Immunizations: Immunizations for children and adults are available. *May require a minimum fee
- Sexual Health Services: Screening, diagnosing, educating, treating individual case management and referral services for those at increased risk for sexually transmitted infections. Condoms are available. Fast track STD/STI clinics. Testing is always confidential
- Community Health Worker: Community Health Workers connect individuals to providers, programs and services. They provide resources to address individual and family needs, including housing assistance, food assistance, transportation services, insurance eligibility screenings and more.
- Pregnancy Resource Navigator: This program aims to empower expectant mothers and their new families by equipping them with resources before, during and after the birth of their child.
- SoonerStart: SoonerStart is an early intervention program providing screenings, assessments, specialized services and therapy for qualifying children.
- WIC: WIC is a nutrition education and supplemental food program for pregnant women, postpartum breastfeeding and non-breastfeeding women, infants and children (up to age 5 years) who meet program eligibility requirements.
