MPP Approval for Student Assistant Appointment Form
***Revised & implemented for use as of August 2024***
YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION TO COMPLETE THIS FORM:
- CWID
- Enrollment & academic standing
- Work history - confirm if the student has worked in a stateside position within the last 12 months (contact Student Employment, if needed)
- Financial Aid status and approval (if the student qualifies for Federal Work Study - contact Financial Aid)
- Appropriate job code/job classification
- Appropriate Position Number (work with your department budget analyst - be sure the position number corresponds with the appropriate job code/job classification)
THIS FORM IS USED TO APPOINT OR GIVE PAY RAISES TO UNREPRESENTED STUDENT ASSISTANTS WHO MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
- Currently employed student assistants who are being reappointed without a break in service.
- Currently employed student assistants getting a second student assistant job (concurrent appointment).
- To rehire former student assistant employees who have held a student assistant position in the past 12 months.
- Currently employed student assistants who are receiving a pay increase.
HOW TO SUBMIT THIS FORM & WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
- Complete the required fields marked with an asterisk (*) and click the Submit button.
- After submitting this form, an automated approval request will be sent to the student's MPP Supervisor.
- When the supervisor approves or denies this form, both the submitter & supervisor will receive an email notification. Please retain this email notification in accordance with your department's record retention practices.
- After the supervisor approves the form, it will be routed to Payroll & Data Services for the transaction to be entered in CHRS.
- The form will send an automated confirmation email to the original submitter and approver to indicate the transaction has been processed and the student assistant can now access CSU Time (Timesheet). Please retain this email notification in accordance with your department's record retention practices.
DO NOT USE THIS FORM IF:
- You are appointing a new Student Assistant who has never worked in a stateside position at CSUF before. If your student meets this criteria, then use CHRS Recruiting.
- You are appointing a former Student Assistant who last worked at CSUF 12 or more months ago. If your student meets this criteria, then use CHRS Recruiting.
- You are hiring an ISA, TA, or GA. If your student is an ISA, TA, or GA, please refer to Academic HR Services.
