The curriculum team has selected various subcontractors for this year's summer camp. Subcontractor availability is limited, so please request early to increase your chances of partnering this summer. We will pair subcontractors with sites as the requests come in, but once the capacity of the subcontractor is met, they will no longer be available for your site.


The deadline to select Summer 2023 subcontractors is Friday, September 15, 2023.


You will need to submit one form submission for each of the subcontractors and/or vendors/trips you are requesting.

Cinematic Art Exhibition Submerges Audiences in NASA’s

Scientific Discoveries & Galactical Data from James Webb


Space Telescope

"Beyond the Light,” the latest exhibition by ARTECHOUSE Studio, developed in collaboration with NASA, is a unique artistic expression of space exploration and innovation. Utilizing the latest technological tools, imaginative cinematic visuals, and an original music score, the exhibition submerges the audience in the timeless story of the light surrounding us.

New Victory Dance celebrates the artistry and diversity of NYC dance with performances specifically curated for young audiences. Featuring a cross-section of internationally recognized New York City-based companies, New Victory Dance consists of three distinct programs each showcasing three unique dance companies.


There is a total of 250 tickets - first come first serve!

History of Social Dance for Workshop for Youth (K-5)

Class Description: This workshop for youth is a fun and inclusive class where students will experience history, appreciation and understanding of social dance styles born from African American culture and BIPOC communities. Based on Camille Brown’s TEDX Video The History of Social Dance, each workshop is led by an experienced facilitator, and will culminate with students performing a routine composed of various social dances past and present.


Social Dance for Workshops for Adolescents (Grades 6-12)

Class Description: This workshop is a fun and inclusive class where participants will explore history, appreciation and understanding of social dance styles born from African American communities and culture. Each 60 minute dance workshop is led by an experienced facilitator, is student centered, culturally responsive, and encourages participants to take part in the choreographic process. The residency will culminate with participants performing a collaborative routine composed of various social dances .


EVERY BODY MOVE FEMALE LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE

For Adolescents (Grades 6-12)

CABD’s uniquely designed,culturally responsive arts-in-education program for adolescent female and female identifying youth, aims to empower participants by developing leadership skills through the art of African American & Diasporic social dance.Through intentional workshops, participants will be immersed in experiential learning activities and leadership training, exploring social dance as a vehicle for change as well as self-determination.

Residencies will help young women to develop confidence, pride and social capital by encouraging civic participation at the community level, engaging with local families, mentorship, and volunteering. Interdisciplinary topics may include (but are not limited to) social inclusion, equity, entrepreneurship, STEM, and environmental protection.

Music Videos:

Kids become Art Directors, Cinematographers, Movie-stars, and Dancers as they plan, storyboard, film, and finally edit their very own Music Video. Children will utilize professional filmmaking equipment, and dive into art direction as they create costumes and props for the video. Students will work with a Choreographer to plan awesome visuals and make up their very own moves. Participants will learn how to create unique moods as they experiment with using lights, gels, various camera lenses, and more. After working on their production, participants will get down to editing, and learning awesome tricks of the trade to make an epic video. Children also have the opportunity to create an original song and/or lyrics.


CinemaKitchen:

Come play with your food at the CinemaKidz cooking show. Kids design the look and feel of the show, make an apron for the series, and work in the test kitchen experimenting with various recipes to feature in each episode: from yummy favorites like vegetarian sushi to experimenting with molecular gastronomy, making fresh ricotta cheese, or homemade ice cream. Participants will get to cook, act, direct, film, and edit several episodes in this hands on engaging class.


Youtube Production:

This class focuses on video production elements to make polished short videos that kids are passionate about. Content may include creating how-to videos, product reviews, tv shows, gamer videos, blogging, skits, animations, and more. Participants learn the skills and techniques necessary to create professional and polished videos that engage and educate their audience and friends. Skills covered include: performance, lighting, camera shot, editing, marketing and promoting a brand, finding unique content, and other relevant skills. A great class for beginners as well as the more advanced video maker. The class will also highlight privacy, and staying safe on the internet. Whether your videos go online or not, this class is perfect for any creative kid!


Weird Science:

Put on your lab coats and secure your goggles- it's time for some whacky science with CinemaKidz! From mixing magic potions and making a slime monster come to life with stop motion, to building a cardboard invention to showcase- anything is possible in Weird Science Television! Working together in lab teams, kids will learn, then demonstrate and show others how to make mind blowing experiments and more for their kid-run science show. Using their science skills, these creative kids will then create their very own Bill Nye inspired TV show


Space Animations:

Join CinemaKidz this week as we plan, build, and film space and Star Wars-inspired stop motion animations! With space as our theme, campers will invent their very own aliens and characters that will star in the animated projects, and build them using a variety of materials led by a professional artist. Kids will learn how the pros rig up their sets, as they use a combination of built backgrounds and green screens to create the feel of outer space. Sets and characters will be built out of wood, wire, paper mâché, clay, and a variety of other materials to look like real Hollywood productions! Campers will utilize professional software, to film and edit their animated tales. Kids will learn how to combine live action video they film, as they build costumes and act in their own projects, then put it all together for one long featured space project!

Interactive Performances for Large Audiences (K-3)

Interactive Performances are ideal for ages 3-8 with character-driven adventures that mix puppetry and storytelling with high-participation games and activities.


Maya's Metaverse

A time-traveling adventure! Maya Nia lives a “regular” life at a “regular” camp & is about to have the most irregular experience! In this hip-hopping, time-traveling journey, participants join Maya in the metaverse, traveling to different points in time, meeting exciting and eccentric icons and taking on unique challenges along the way. Join Maya to meet characters, both real and fictional, and discover that you are never too young to make big change!


CAMP AWESOME

An interactive performance to get everyone into the summer spirit! Camp Awesome is pure FUN, featuring everything you know and love about camp. While participants are being entertained, they will also get to explore themes of homesickness and coping with change.


Dynasty Breaking NYC and mainstages

Breakdancing with Dynasty Breaking and mainstages

Jump into the worldwide phenomenon of breaking in a partnership with Dynasty Breaking NYC and mainstages.


This weekly Breakdancing class is open for all skill levels with the mission to educate the youth in the art of breaking as well as the culture of Hip-Hop. Students will achieve a higher sense of confidence and develop fundamental attributes that have played a part in their advancement as positive adolescents. Through teaching breaking we have emphasized the values of hard work, teamwork, confidence, perseverance and discipline."

Splat Lab 3K/4K

Every workshop has 4 different stations: Main Splat, Open Splat, Splat Create and Splat Build. Students have the opportunity to get messy with projects like Slime and Fizz Balls. Our pre-school stations are very sensory focused and help young ones with fine motor skills through mixed media projects that include things like threading, beading, stacking, cutting and drawing. Everything is very colorful and playful!


Splat Lab K - 5

Every workshop has 4 different stations: Main Splat, Open Splat, Splat Create and Splat Build. Students have the opportunity to get messy with projects like Slime and Ooblek. 3rd to 5th graders have access to our PaperWorks™ station which features fun options like comic making, origami, and pixel art. Everything is very colorful and playful!


Splat Lab Middle School 6 - 8

Middle School programming features the messy and creative projects we are known for, but folds in more complex projects like compound slimes, sling shot cars, zentangles, and zines. Middle schoolers tell us they love Splat Lab because it makes them feel very relaxed because it acts as the perfect de-stressor!


Anthropology Mash Up 1-8

In our summer Anthro Mash up course, youth with get a sampling of cultural traditions from around the world. We share special summer-only projects such as Japanese monsters, Hawaiian volcano myths, Egyptian snakes, and Greek and Roman myths. Each workshop is catered to the age group we serve and can be more enrichment focused or added as a morning social studies type class.
