Barbara Braden Future is Bright Award - Nomination Form

The Barbara Braden Future is Bright Award is a designed to recognize a new tri-specialty WOC certified nurse within the first five (5) years of WOC practice who is destined to make a significant contribution to WOC care as a clinician, educator, consultant, researcher, administrator and professional leader.


Nominations are due by Thursday December 28, 2023.


Nominees will be notified of final decision by Tuesday February 27th, 2024. Recipient will announced during the WOCNext 2024.

Nominee must be a current member of the WOCN Society.

The nominee must be tri-specialty certified through WOCNCB.

The nominee must be within the first five (5) years of WOC practice.

Nominee can work within any practice setting


SUPPORTING EVIDENCE

The following section is intended to gather evidence from the nominator about how your nominee exemplifies the scope of WOC nursing practice, as defined in "WOC Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice", 2nd Edition. As a nominator, you are responsible for submitting a short summary (1000 words total or less for all of the below listed sections) providing examples of how your nominee fulfills their role as a WOC nurse, as prescribed in "WOC Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice", 2nd Edition. Provide an example of how your nominee uses judgment and critical thinking skills throughout the nursing process to develop and implement individualized care plans that complement the developmental age of the healthcare consumer and caregiver, are respectful of the patient’s rights, and are congruent with principles of cultural diversity and inclusion to achieve the best outcomes.

Provide an example of how your nominee educates healthcare consumers and caregivers; provides orientation, on-the job training, and in-service education to clinical staff; develops protocols and guidelines; and/or provides organized continuing education programs or formal academic education.

Provide an example of how your nominee through communication and collaboration develops partnerships with the healthcare consumer or a group/population of healthcare consumers, and other healthcare providers to coordinate the delivery of individualized care for an individual or specific population based on an assessment of needs, knowledge of current trends and best practices, and an evaluation of outcomes.

Provide an example of how your nominee translates and disseminates current research and integrates evidence-based knowledge into practice to enhance the quality of care; develops evidence-based education programs to improve and standardize care; participates in research studies or quality improvement projects.

Provide an example of how your nominee demonstrates administrative skills by developing services or programs for the delivery of safe, effective, quality WOC care; manages, coordinates, or oversees clinical staff and the delivery of WOC services; utilizes appropriate resources to plan, provide, and sustain evidence-based practices to ensure that practice is safe, effective, and fiscally responsible; recommends process, policy, procedure or protocol revisions.

Provide an example of how your nominee demonstrates leadership in WOC specialty nursing by modeling expert WOC care; participates in professional organizations; mentors colleagues to advance WOC practice; encourages innovation in WOC nursing; promotes an environment that supports and maintains respect, trust and dignity for healthcare consumers, caregivers, and healthcare providers; contributes to an ethical practice environment that is conducive to safe, quality, health care.
