The National Education Association seeks dynamic workshop proposals for its ESP National Conference.


This year's conference theme is:



EDUCATION. DEMOCRACY. FREEDOM: OUR RIGHT! OUR RESPONSIBILITY!



The conference will be held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, NV, March 22-24, 2024.



WORKSHOP GUIDELINES


The 2024 NEA ESP Conference Committee invites you to join a unified effort to grow and strengthen the professional excellence of ESP members working in Pre-K through Higher Ed. The NEA seeks workshop proposals for interactive learning opportunities that will deepen participants' connection to NEA's commitment to growth and strength and align with NEA's Strategic Framework.


To meet the NEA's overall professional practice standard and in keeping with the NEA Conference Alignment Team, all proposals must align with an NEA:



We are seeking interactive workshops impacting ESPs that focus specifically and deeply on current professional issues, such as worker shortages; privatization; health and student safety; peer mentoring; social-emotional learning; adverse childhood experiences and trauma; behavior management; communication skills; presentation skills; leadership skills; organizing; and career family specific content.


Participants should leave with relevant strategies and tools they can use in their careers, including sustainable solutions, new ideas, skill sets, and a plan of action for when they return home.


This year, we are seeking 4-hour workshops specifically on these issues:


  • Social-Emotional Learning
  • Student Behavior
  • Member Organizing
  • Campaigns and Elections



WORKSHOP SESSIONS


We are seeking proposals for 3 session blocks:

WORKSHOP REQUIREMENTS


1.   Presenters may be asked to present their workshop at least two times, in whole or as a condensed version of the original submission, for longer sessions.


2.    NEA will fund only ONE presenter for each workshop. Workshops that require two NEA-funded presenters will be considered for approval upon request and review. Rationale will be required.


3.    If you are not an ESP member, you must include an ESP as your co-presenter. Make sure to include this step in the workshop planning process before submitting your proposal.


SUBMISSION PROCESS


To have your workshop proposal considered, please complete and submit the proposal form below. Only complete submissions will be considered. A team of reviewers will evaluate all workshop proposals. Please provide detailed information in your workshop description that will allow reviewers to understand your workshop purpose and outcomes fully. All proposals must be received by the END OF DAY (PT), WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2023.

Each workshop room will be set up with:


  • 1 projector,
  • 1 screen,
  • 1 set of speakers,
  • 1 flip chart easel with paper,
  • 1 set of markers, and
  • 1 table for materials.


Presenters must bring their own laptops and projector connectors (dongles) for presentations.


NOTE: Due to cost, microphones will not be provided without pre-approval.

IMPORTANT: Read Before Submitting

  1. Please fill out the presenter's form completely before submission (incomplete forms will not be considered).
  2. To help maximize the number and diversity of presenters and perspectives, each individual is limited to three proposal submissions.
  3. The deadline for submission is end of day, Wednesday, October 18, 2023 (PT).
  4. Presenters will be notified of their submission results 30-45 days after the close of the RFP form.
  5. If selected, NEA will only pay travel and accommodations for presenters identified and approved on this proposal submission. (Note: Honoraria/fees and work release time are not reimbursable. Payment for substitutes are not covered.)
  6. Co-presenters are approved on a case-by-case basis. NEA will NOT cover expenses (e.g., registration fee, flight, hotel, ground transportation, etc.) for co-presenters who have not been pre-identified on this form AND approved by NEA.
  7. If selected, NEA will provide specific guidelines and information for travel arrangements and accommodations. NEA will also provide specific follow-up guidance and agreements for all presenters.
  8. Presenters will receive a separate registration link after completing the REQUIRED stipend agreement and W-9 form.
  9. All presenters ARE REQUIRED to register for the ESP Conference within the timelines provided. Failure to register may result in your session being canceled and/or replaced. Future communication will be provided with presenter timelines upon acceptance.
  10. NEA will NOT approve changes to identified primary presenters, designated to receive NEA travel accommodations and expense reimbursement, once the proposal is approved.
