Program Information & Role Description

The Maryland Leadership Education and Development (MLEAD) Program engages students in institutes, conferences, retreats, and peer education to develop socially responsible leadership skills. Student Facilitators deliver leadership development content, lead experiential learning activities, guide conversations and synthesize group ideas, effectively shaping experiences for the participants. Facilitators learn and practice skills including public speaking, critical thinking, planning, and flexibility!


Program Team:

We are looking for Facilitators to facilitate Terrapin Leadership Institute (TLI)​ and Maryland Leadership Conference in the upcoming academic year.


Duration:

All facilitator positions are semester long commitments. You will also have the option to continue on with the Facilitator role for Fall 2025


Requirements:

  • Facilitators should review class, employment, student organization, family, and other commitments to ensure availability for these mandatory training dates and times [subject to change]:


Spring Schedule:

  • Learning Communities - Mondays 5pm - 7pm starting Feb 10th (10 weeks)
  • LCSL Spring Student Leader Retreat - (February 1st)
  • Spring TLI: 1 Session a Week on a Tuesday or Wednesday or Thursday evening over 5 weeks (March 3rd - April 7th) No sessions will take place the week of Spring Break
  • Maryland Leadership Conference (Friday, April 18th: 12p-6p)


Position Description:

  • Actively promote MLEAD opportunities and share marketing materials via email, social media, and at least 1 event per semester.
  • Review and deliver curriculum including experiential activities and discussion for a group of 15-25 participants.
  • Work closely with 1 co-facilitator to plan and implement weekly 90-minute sessions, manage session logistics, organize participant communication, and build community among participants
  • Review and deliver curriculum including experiential activities and discussion for a small group of 10-15 participants for 1 conference programs
  • Provide feedback on program curriculum and structure
  • Be a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior


Intake Process:

The facilitator intake will be a rolling/continuous/positions open until filled process.


MLEAD is looking for 10-12 dedicated students for the program team and those interested in becoming a facilitator for the MLEAD program must:

  1. Fill out the MLEAD Program Facilitator Interest Form with the necessary information Once the interest form has received, MLEAD staff will reach out to confirm and set up a time to interview
  2. Applicants can attend a virtual informational session (optional).
  3. Following the informational meeting, MLEAD staff may reach back out to students for an interview style conversation.
  4. Within 1-2 weeks, the interested student will be notified if they are selected or not for a position.
  5. Application closes November 13th

Faciliation Preference

Applicants must select a track to co-facilitate within their application, and must be available for the track dates listed below. To be a facilitator you must be available for at least one of the below programs. If none of the track times work for your schedule you can apply for the TLI To-Go program that facilitates at the request of campus groups and organizations.

If none of the above track times work for your schedule you can select the TLI To-Go program that facilitates at the request of campus groups and organizations and/or develop your facilitation skills and knowledge at our Monday night Learning Community meetings!
