Intended for new businesses or MSPA permit holders from last year who have made changes to their setup or location.

Business Information

 
 

If different from legal business name.

 
 

If a lessor, you will be prompted to upload permission from the property owner(s) agreeing to your MSPA setup installation. A copy of an email or an official letter signed by the property owner will be accepted.

 

If not ground floor and street facing, you will be prompted to provide permission from the street-facing business owner(s) and property owner(s) in front of which your patio will be installed. A copy of an email or an official letter signed by the owners will be accepted.

 

If located elsewhere on Main Street or within the greater BIA zone, you will be prompted to provide permission from the street-facing business owner(s) and property owners(s) in front of which your MSPA setup will be installed.

 

If yes, you are required to obtain a temporary/seasonal Development Permit from the Planning Department and a Vendor business licence.

 
 

This also includes Vendor business licences for those businesses to whom this applies.

 

If yes, you will be prompted to upload an application for a Road Use Permit. This will be for vehicular access to the pedestrian area.

 

 

Setup Details

 
 

If yes, you may be eligible to provide commercial liability coverage of only $2 million per occurrence instead of the standard $5 million.

If so, you are required to obtain a Building Permit from the Planning Department to ensure that the structure complies with the Building Code and all related standards.

 

If greater than 10 square meters, you are required to obtain a Tents & Events Building Permit from the Planning Department. This excludes shade umbrellas.

 

If yes, a Tents & Events Building Permit from the Planning Department is needed.

 
 

Please note that it is the business owner’s responsibility to obtain a valid AGLC liquor licence to the extension of the business premises, and that alcohol can only be served within a delineated seating area.

Please note that the Town of Canmore must be listed as an additionally insured party and your coverage must specify any business activity occurring within your outdoor setup.


Other Setups being dismantled and brought indoors on a daily basis: Upload a copy of your certificate of general liability insurance for $2 million of coverage per occurrence. Please note that the Town of Canmore must be listed as an additionally insured party and your coverage must specify any business activity occurring within your outdoor setup.
