Letter of Intent
The Fontan Outcomes Network (FON) requires a letter of intent (LOI) from investigators seeking to submit a research proposal. The goal is to help the FON Research Workgroup gauge proposal feasibility and alignment.
Key components of the LOI (for a sample visit here):
- PI Name and email address.
- Project Title: Provide a concise and descriptive title for your research project.
- Project Team: Include a list of team members, their institutions (if not at the same center as the PI), and role on the project. Note: the principal investigator must be at a
- FON member center. Rationale should be provided for the inclusion of investigators from non-member sites in the full proposal.
- a. If there are known gaps in the study team in terms of expertise, please note this, as the Research Work Group can help with identifying investigators with specific expertise prior to submission of a full proposal.
- b. Consider including FON patient or family member advocates on your team.
- i. FON highly values multi-center research proposals that include patients and family members, though inclusion is not mandatory. The Research workgroup can help suggest patient/parent collaborators.
- Describe Specific Aim(s) and Study Design: This may be in the form of a paragraph(s) or list. If you are aware of specific variables needed and need information on data availability or distribution, please indicate this.
Please note for 2025 only enrollment data is available for projects. No longitudinal data is prepared for release at this time. You can view the data definitions manual and data collection forms here: https://www.fontanoutcomesnetwork.org/research-overview.
Please submit your letter below. For questions please contact info@fontanoutcomesnetwork.org
