VSP Cost Share Form March 2025

This cost share program is limited to payments of no more than $5,000 per agricultural producer. The cost share rates are based on receipts for purchased equipment, materials, and services meeting the practice requirements below. Reimbursements will be as cost share rates of 50% to 75% depending on selected practices. Applications accepted immediately and considered on a first come first served basis.

Irrigation Practice Descriptions

A sprinkler system (NRCS Practice 442) is a distribution system that applies water by means of nozzles operated under pressure. In Kittitas County, this includes pod systems, handlines, wheellines, center pivot and lateral move sprinklers. Water distribution uniformity and efficiency can be improved by replacing worn components, renozzling to allow lower pressure options, and replacing or upgrading pumps.

Irrigation Water Management

Irrigation Water Management (NRCS Practice 449)The process of determining and controlling the volume, frequency, and application rate of irrigation water. This practice is used to accomplish one or more of the following purposes:

• Improve irrigation water use efficiency

• Minimize irrigation-induced soil erosion

• Protect surface and ground water quality

• Improve poor plant productivity and health

• Reduce energy use

Cover Crop Practice Description

A Cover Crop (NRCS Practice Code 340) is grasses, legumes, and forbs planted for seasonal vegetative cover. This practice is applied to support one or more of the following purposes:

• Reduce erosion from wind and water

• Maintain or increase soil health and organic matter content

• Reduce water quality degradation by utilizing excessive soil nutrients

• Suppress excessive weed pressures and break pest cycles

• Improve soil moisture use efficiency

• Minimize soil compaction
