Expedition Oregon Application

Some of the weekly meetings may be virtual, but you must be in the Eugene area to successfully participate in this program.

Please let us know any wilderness background and experience you have. It is not required to have any experience, but this will help us with creating groups.

These do not need to be connected to the outdoors or Expedition Oregon but may be used when creating student groups.

(Optional) We want to create student groups that are as diverse as possible. With that in mind - how do you identify? Please include as many identities as you want and be sure to include those that are the most important to you. Some examples could be nationality, ethnicity, cultural background, gender, socio-economic status, etc. Example: Albus Dumbledore - Wizard, Man, Gay, White, English.

Please describe your current physical health, and include any physical limitations that you believe would be important for GEO and your group leader to know. This program will include moderate physical activity, such as hiking and biking.


Program Fee and Scholarship

The program fee will be $100 and this includes weekly meetings and weekly group trips through the Lane County area; leadership, academic, and personal development exercises; a dedicated student leader to guide you through mini-expeditions and group meetings; official certificate of completion; great experience to start a career in outdoor leadership. More information regarding payment coming soon! Note: Some equipment may be needed, but all equipment can be rented through the Outdoor Program.

Are you interested in applying for a scholarship for this program?

Scholarships will be provided to students based on financial need. Scholarship recipients will be required to assist GEO with the future promotion of the program including the submission of photos, video, written statements, and/or participation in promotional events. If you are interested in receiving a scholarship we will follow up with more information. An essay submission may be required.

Do you give permission to GEO to contact the University of Oregon Financial Aid Department?

Scholarships will be given to students with documented financial need through a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). By selecting "yes" you grant GEO permission to access your current federal financial aid eligibility in order to consider your scholarship application. (International students only) The UO Office of Financial Aid will determine your financial need based on the Financial Resource Form that international students submit to the Office of Financial AId. Scholarships will be given to students with documented financial need. By selecting "yes" you grant GEO permission to the Financial Aid Department in order to consider your scholarship application.
