All publications that include results, services or products including NSG mice generated by VCU Massey Cancer Center Shared Resources must include the following acknowledgment in the manuscript: "Services and products in support of the research project were generated by the VCU Massey Cancer Center Cancer Mouse Model Shared Resource, supported, in part, with funding from NIH-NCI Cancer Center Support Grant P30CA016059."

Will you use these NSG mice for studies using PDX tissue?*
Have these PDX tumors been documented to be free of C. bovis?*

Note: If they were frozen down from tumors grown in the Massey barrier any time before 2/9/2021 they are not documented to be free of C. bovis unless they have been tested.

Please select all that is needed

Please include what strain of mice you are using.

Please also include what the cells will be suspended in, e.g. PBS or BME/Matrigel.

Please be specific. e.g., SC-1 tumor per mouse in the flank or 1 tumor per mouse in the 4th MFP

Some abbreviations:

IC-intracranial

ICAR-intracardiac

IM=intramusclar

IP=intraperitoneal

IV= intravenous/tail vein

MFP- mammary fat pad

SC=subcutaneous

Day 1 is the first day of randomization. Please be specific for each drug. e.g., IP 2x per week over 3 weeks for drug X and PO 5X per week over 3 weeks for drug Y

Some abbreviations:

IM=intramusclar

IP=intraperitoneal

IV= intravenous/tail vein

PO=oral/gavage

SC=subcutaneous

please include all information needed

When should the mice be weighed? Any special notes needed for the experiment regarding monitoring

e.g., IVIS or ultrasound

Example:

  • Image each mouse at the endpoint. Dissect, collect, weigh, and record the weight of the tumors, then image the tumors ex vivo on the IVIS. Also dissect the lung, liver, kidney, and ovaries; image both sides of the organs
  • For the tumors, cut in half and keep half frozen and half fixed but cut out a postage-size stamp piece that will be sent for embedding/processing. Also, put all organs in fixative.
  • Quantify the total flux on both the ventral and dorsal sides of each organ. Also, quantify the total flux of live animals weekly.

e.g., once one mouse becomes morbid bound sacrifice all mice or sacrifice only each mouse as it becomes morbid bound?
