The Social Security Administration (SSA) Medical Experts Program engages Medical Experts (ME) under a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) to provide evidence at hearings before an administrative law judge (ALJ) on behalf of SSA. Medical Experts provide expert witness services via the phone or by completing written interrogatories for the Office of Hearings Operations (OHO). When making decisions about disability, ALJs consider the impartial expert opinion that Medical Experts provide. Medical Experts offer expertise in 33 specialty areas.
