Thank you for your home improvement project inquiry. Please note that there is a change to Stanford’s review and approval process for home improvement projects in the campus San Juan Residential District subdivision on a standard ground lease effective October 1, 2022.
The following projects no longer require Stanford’s review and approval:
- Interior projects that do not affect changes to the the building or structure’s exterior
- Water heater or sewer line replacements
- Solar projects
- Electrical upgrades
We will no longer issue Stanford’s approval letter or stamp plans for the above mentioned projects.
If your interior project does affect changes to the building or structure’s exterior, we will continue to review and process Stanford’s approval letter for the project and stamp plans.
Please review the listed attachments for your project as the building regulations have been updated.
Please complete the Project Application form and email it back with any drawings, specs or architectural plans (if required).
Surrounding neighbors will need to be notified if the project duration is over 30 days. Please complete the Construction Notification form and return it, if required.
To pay the Project Application fee for your project, please call our office at 650-725-6893 during business hours. Our front office team will assist you in processing your credit card payment over the phone. The fee is $225 if drawings are NOT required by Santa Clara County Building Department for the project, $325 if drawings are required for permits.
The turnaround time frame for Stanford’s approval can take up to 10 business days. Once you receive Stanford’s approval letter, you or your contractor can submit a copy to Santa Clara County’s Building Department for permits (if required).
If there are exterior changes to homes over 50 years in age, an additional historical review will be required.
