ABOUT OUR VOLUNTEER GROUPS (VGs):
Our Volunteer Groups play a crucial role in advancing occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) initiatives. By joining a VG as an officer, you have the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research, develop industry standards, and collaborate with professionals across various sectors. Your involvement helps shape the future of OEHS practices and ensures safer and healthier workplaces globally.
POSITIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The elected and succession positions of Secretary-Elect, Secretary, Vice-Chair, and Chair are normally a one-year
term, commencing at AIHA Connect. The R&D Officer may serve more than one term dependent upon the scope
of work
Chair
Responsibilities:
Shapes and motivates group activities.
Accountable to AIHA Board via President and Board Liaison.
Develops objectives and goals aligned with AIHA mission.
Conducts meetings, ensures records are kept, and monitors progress.
Prepares annual reports and supports educational programming.
Maintains group files and adheres to AIHA guidelines and policies.
Vice-Chair
Responsibilities:
Supports Chair in group operations.
Develops objectives and goals with liaisons.
Assumes Chair role if necessary.
Assists Chair throughout the year.
Secretary
Responsibilities:
Ensures Volunteer Group (VG) follows AIHA policies.
Records accurate meeting minutes.
Manages VG membership and activity tracking.
Knowledgeable in Roberts’ Rules of Order.
R&D Officer
Responsibilities:
Links VG with AIHA/ACGIH research initiatives.
Reviews and develops research project ideas.
Supports DTS Advisory Group in matching research projects.
