MCSS Guest Contributor Submission Form

Contribute Your Experience/Expertise to the MCSS Website If you enjoy writing and want to share your school safety-related knowledge and experience in order to help and inform others, please know that MCSS is always willing to consider guest contributors for the News and Notes section of our website. Guest posts should be between 700-1,500 words and should be complementary in style to the content already published on our News and Notes page.

Before you submit a draft for us to consider posting, please:

1. Understand the type of writing we publish. Browse through our recent posts to get a feeling for our general tone.

2. Avoid submitting a post that is too similar to one we've already published.

3. Know that you grant us a perpetual license to your submission while you retain the original copyright. We may also distribute your article in email newsletters, social media, or other compilations.

FAQs

Can I later publish my submission on other sites?

Only your own site as long as you link back to the original article that is published here. This is so Google doesn’t think we’re stealing content from other sources.

Can I submit an article that has been published elsewhere?

No, we only accept original writing. However, you can link to other work within the post if you provide appropriate citation.

Can I use this post as a way to promote my other work?

You can use the biographical box to link to your website, blog, Twitter, or Facebook. You are also allowed one contextual link within the article itself to relevant external articles and blog posts on sites you own (but not sales, product, or squeeze pages).

Can I submit an idea to you first?

Yes. However, we prefer draft submissions and we retain the right to edit any post that you submit to us.

Do I get paid for my submission?

No. Site contributors are volunteers; we are unable to offer financial compensation for guest articles/posts.

Will I definitely be published if I submit a guest post for consideration?

No. Please realize that many individuals want to be considered for guest posts and we have high standards for the content that appears on the site. As such, only a minority of submissions proceed to publishing.
