About Perkins V:

Perkins V aims to enhance the quality of Career Education (CE) programs, improve alignment with labor market needs, and increase opportunities for students to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for success in the workforce. The legislation provides federal funding to support CE programs, with an emphasis on programs that prepare students for high-skill, high-wage occupations.

Key features of Perkins V include an emphasis on work-based learning experiences, and an emphasis on providing equitable access to CE programs for all students, including those traditionally underrepresented, also known as special populations.

For example, if you are requesting resources for equipment, list the equipment and how the purchase will support training of students with in-demand skills. If you are targeting an equity gap in your program, explain how the project is expected to help validate and/or close that gap.

Briefly describe how your project will meet the goals of Perkins V and advance the mission of the college and/or Education Master Plan (EMP).

Please provide the total amount of funds being requested. For example, 6 machines @ $600 unit cost, $55 tax, $100 shipping. Or, 60 hours @ $60/hr., etc. If you need any support, please reach out to Alex Kramer at kramera@smccd.edu.

Please feel free to upload any additional items to accompany your request (e.g. labor market reports, budgets, flyers, etc.). Note that this is not a required step to submit a proposal; however, additional information is appreciated.
