AK Reads: District Reading Intervention: K-3 MTSS Reading Plan

District Intervention: Introduction

As required in the Alaska Reads Act, each school district will develop a K-3 MTSS Reading Plan that is consistent with a multi-tiered system of support model, including universal instruction (Tier I), targeted intervention (Tier II), and intensive intervention (Tier III) and approved by DEED. The plan also includes professional development and strategies to support students’ reading development at home with resources and/or training for parents and guardians. If multiple schools in a district serve K-3 and have different plans, a plan must be submitted for each school. The plan is due to the Department on or before September 1st each year for approval.
